SPRINGFIELD NEUROLOGICAL AND SPINE INSTITUTE AND COX HEALTH FOUNDATION HOSTS THE 4TH ANNUAL ONE CLINIC

Springfield, MO- Springfield Neurological and Spine Institute, LLC (SNSI) along with the CoxHealth Foundation is proud to host the fourth annual Ozarks Neurosurgery Educational (ONE) Clinic which will take place August 4th-8th at the Big Cedar Lodge Convention Center in Ridgedale, MO. The clinic is intended to provide a focused and unique educational experience designed to guide senior level neurosurgery residents and fellows. The course brings together faculty from domestic and international neurosurgical centers including Mayfield Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Barrow Institute, Washington University, Olympia Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, and University Medical Centre Ljubljana in Slovenia among others. This year’s course includes 15 residents and 20 physician faculty members coming together under one venue to participate in didactic discussions and an intense hands-on cadaver lab intended to teach the latest techniques in cranial and spinal surgery.

One of the highlights of this year’s ONE Clinic is featured speakers that are the chairmen of their programs including: Ralph Dacey, MD (Washington University), Mario Zucarrello, MD (Mayfield Clinic), and N. Scott Litofsky, MD (University of Missouri). We are also honored to welcome and host first time attendees Cameron McDougall, MD from Phoenix, Arizona, Carl Lauryssen, MD from Los Angeles, California and Andrej Vranic, MD from Slovenia. The topic of focus and theme for this year is “Motion and Flow: Improving the Mechanics of Neurosurgery.” The residents attending will benefit greatly from the lectures, round table discussions, and hands on cadaver training taught by the top neurosurgeons in the nation. Some topics include: spinal fusion verses motion preservation, the surgical management of aneurysms, and practice management topics such as health care reform, marketing your practice, physicians as leaders, and surgical billing “101.”

The ONE Clinic provides an exciting opportunity for neurosurgery residents and fellows to receive valuable insight into both surgical technique as well as practice management topics. The cadaver lab which will take place on Thursday August 5th and Friday August 6th, offers hands-on experience for the residents to improve surgical skills under the guidance of experienced physicians. The practice management day allows residents to engage in the business side of a medical practice. Bob Karstens from JMJ Associates in Austin, TX is the featured speaker and will touch on the topic of “Physicians as Leaders and Change Agents.” Business topics that are presented during this portion of the course are typically unexposed to residents in medical school making this segment very informative and valuable.

This year promises to be another exciting year of learning and fellowship among the country’s top neurosurgeons and residents. If you have any questions regarding the course please contact Molly Carter or Jessica Ratcliff at 417-885-3888.
